The ACT Care Group specializes in Alzheimer/Dementia care. The goal of ACT is to help people maintain a healthy lifestyle and decrease negative behavioral symptoms associated with Alzheimer's/Dementia.
This new approach to Alzheimer’s treatment helps both the participant and their families by alleviating some of the stress of caring for a loved one. In 2015, the Alzheimer’s Association reported that 15.9 million family members and friends provided 18.1 billion hours of unpaid care to a loved one with AD/D. Providing care for someone with AD/D takes a large toll on the caregivers. Many caregivers experience emotional stress, depression and also fall behind in giving attention to their own health and personal affairs. The goal of ACT is to keep participants busy and to create an opportunity for the care givers to have time to focus on their own health and have time to take care of their daily responsibilities.
ACT helps to reduce some of the pressure of caring for a loved one with AD/D, even providing roundtrip transportation. Our participants spend their days being stimulated by learning, music, arts & crafts and socializing, instead of sitting at home. Everyone is fed healthy meals from a menu designed by a NYS certified Registered Dietician, and the ACT staff can assist with toileting and any activities of daily living.
We encourage & enforce open communication between ACT and the family members, so that everyone is informed on their loved ones day while in ACT’s care.
And many more activities that promote brain use and physical exercise/movement.
The ACT Care Group is open Monday - Friday from 9AM -6PM. We are accessible by phone 24/7, and are readily available to help lessen the challenge of managing Alzheimer's/Dementia & improve the quality of life for everyone involved. We look forward to working with you and your family.
